Meet the peer mentor: Boomer Russell

Boomer being Boomer

Hey guys!  My name is Boomer Russell and I will be a Junior Biology major with minors in Chemistry and Psychology at Maryville College.

I’m very involved in the MC community.  To name a few, I am a Team Leader for the Student Programming Board, an Ambassador, a Peer Mentor (x2), and an officer for Tri-Beta.

My career goals are not set in stone, but I plan to either attend an osteopathic medical school or graduate school in a biomedical field.  This past semester I worked with Dr. Gibson and one of her Senior Study students on a project studying the binding behavior of a protein she works with while also learning a lot of new lab techniques!  It’s pretty lit.

Outside of class and research, you could find me at the sand volleyball court, at taco bell, laughing hysterically with friends, or studying!  I’m super excited to get started in August.  I’m the most excited to give back to the program that welcomed me to Maryville College two years ago, you have no idea how excited I am for you all to go through this program and then freshman orientation!  Also, I really like cheese, so I hope we do the cheese making lab.  You guys are gonna love it!  See y’all soon!
